“Hoviate Man” (My Identity) was the title of The UCLA Iranian Student Group’s (ISG) Sixth Annual Culture Show. The show was held at the Freud Playhouse at UCLA. The show featured a comedic skit interspersed with dance and musical numbers. The skit followed the journey of an Iranian-American youth who wanders the streets of Iran after missing a flight back to the US. The skit takes the audience through different aspects of Iranian life and culture. The dance numbers consisted of both traditional Persian dances, as well as, a few twists on modern dances such as hip hop and salsa. It was a very funny, entertaining and educational (for non-Iranians like myself at least) show. Below I have videos of two of the more traditional dances that were performed in the show. For a DVD of the entire show contact ISG. Also pictures from the show are here.
