Rueda de Casino Moves

The aim of this page is to have a video library of Rueda de Casino moves that we have learned at Rueda in the Park (RITP) so that they are still fresh in our minds. The ultimate goal of this page is to have as many Rueda Moves as possible demonstrated here.

As there are different nomenclature and execution of Rueda moves used around the world, the moves shown/listed here are specific to RITP. I’ll do my best to list alternate names and show variations to named moves. One main difference is that at RITP we typically do not do a "tap" (like they do in Miami-style and a lot of Cuban style Ruedas) unless the move absolutely requires it. The reason for this is that we are based in Los Angeles, where LA-style is the dominant form of salsa danced here. This means that a lot of beginner and intermediate followers are not used to turning on 1-2-3.

I hope to have the page constantly updated (I plan to do it after each RITP meeting). I will try to post the updates on the RITP message board. The updated videos will be uploaded on Google Video (the Myspace videos are old and will be replaced in time).

NOTE!!! Videos are for demonstration purposes only. They are in no way meant to be instructional. You should not try any move listed here without the supervision of a trained instructor as some of the moves are dangerous and can cause injury. I strongly suggest that if you would like to learn these moves that you enroll in a salsa class or buy instructional videos.

A list of salsa instructors in the Los Angeles Area is found here: Salsa Instructors

I tried to classify them based on my experience with RITP, Casinero.com and SalsAtlanta

in alphabetical order (For the most part at least :)

List taken from PeopleWhoDance.net, SalsAtlanta and Casinero.com

I know the list contains a lot of redundancies and as time goes by I will clean it up. I am in the process of changing some of the videos. The first batch was done on a whim and was a test. Any help/suggestions are appreciated.
